How I came to this work

Renae Raso, clinical psychologist and founder of Nurture Psychology

I'm a clinical psychologist and the founder of Nurture Psychology. I first registered as a psychologist in 2001, took time out to raise my family, and came back to practise in the perinatal space because of the unique and particular challenges faced in that journey.

I have extensive experience in the private and public sectors, and support clients with a broad range of perinatal concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, parenting and adjustment, changing identity, and burnout. I have a special interest in relational and attachment based trauma.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate and person centred, grounded in evidence based practice, and shaped around you rather than a set programme. It is trauma and attachment informed, inclusive and neuro-affirming.

There is a real need to feel held in this space, and that is the foundation of everything else in my work.

Compassionate curiosity about the self does not mean liking everything we find out about ourselves, only that we look at ourselves with the same nonjudgmental acceptance we would wish to accord anyone else who suffered and who needed help.
