Contact
When you're ready, I'm here.
Tell me what's brought you here, in as much or as little detail as you like. It comes straight to me, and I'll respond.
This practice is built around the perinatal journey, from fertility and pregnancy through birth, loss and early parenthood, and EMDR for trauma carried into that time.

What happens next
You send a short message
Your name, an email address, and a line or two about what's going on.
I read it myself
No waiting list, no intake team, and nobody else reading it before I do.
We find a time, or the right person for you
If I'm the right fit, we'll find a time that works. If someone else would suit you better, I'll say so and tell you who to try.

Getting in touch is the hardest part. The rest we can do together.

By telehealth
Video sessions anywhere in Australia. All you need is a private space and a stable connection, with headphones if you'd like extra privacy. A sleeping baby nearby is completely fine.
In person, Newhaven Victoria
One day a week on Victoria's Bass Coast, close to Phillip Island, San Remo, Cowes, Wonthaggi and Inverloch. Babies are welcome in the room, and a session that has to end early because your baby needs you simply picks up where it left off.
Common questions
Questions people ask first
If there's something you'd still like to know, send me an enquiry and I'll answer it.
Do I need a referral to book?
No. You can book directly at any time. A GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan are only needed if you'd like to claim the Medicare rebate. If you think you would like one, it is worth seeing your GP before your first session, since the rebate cannot be applied to sessions you have already had.
What happens in the first session?
Mostly, we talk. I'll ask what's brought you along and what you'd like to be different, and you can bring any questions you have about our work together. There's no pressure to cover everything in one hour, and nothing happens before you understand it and agree to it.
Providing evidence based treatment goes hand in hand with having a way to see how you are going, so assessment forms are almost always part of a first session, and come up again at points along the way. We will also go through the finer details together, including privacy and confidentiality.
Is telehealth as good as being in the room?
Telehealth sessions are real therapy, not a lesser version of it. Research supports psychological therapy delivered by video, including EMDR, and Medicare rebates apply in the same way. All you need is a private space and a stable connection, with headphones if you'd like extra privacy. A sleeping baby nearby is completely fine.
Will EMDR make me relive what happened?
No. Reliving is what happens when a memory takes over. EMDR is built to work the other way: you keep one foot in the present the whole time, aware of the room and of the movement, while the memory is held in mind. You are looking at it rather than back inside it.
If it ever tips towards being too much, we stop there and steady before going any further.
Can I bring my baby to appointments?
Yes. Babies are welcome at telehealth and in-person appointments alike. Feeding, settling and interruptions are all part of the territory, and none of it bothers me. If a session needs to end early because your baby needs you, we'll simply pick up where we left off.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life with small children is unpredictable, and I understand that. I ask for as much notice as you can manage so the time can go to someone else, and I would always rather you moved a session than pushed through one you are not up to.
Where less than 24 hours notice is given and the session cannot be filled, a fee of 50% of the session applies. Exceptional circumstances are just that, and I will always take them into account.
If you need support right now
Nurture Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service, and messages here aren't monitored around the clock. If you or someone with you is in immediate danger, call 000 (Triple Zero).
The needs of the perinatal journey can be complex and varied, and there are some I am not the right person to hold. If your main concern right now is an eating disorder, substance use, family or domestic violence or thoughts of suicide or self harm that feel hard to keep safe from, a service built for that will support you better than I can, and the numbers below are a good place to start.
